The Wellness Council of West Virginia (WCWV) is a non-profit organization which works exclusively with businesses, corporations, non-profits and other employers to develop results-oriented wellness initiatives. The WCWV believes that every organization is different and that respecting these differences is the key component in realizing a desirable return on investment for prevention programming.
The Council’s staff has been asked to speak and consult within West Virginia, neighboring states as well as regional and national summits and meetings. The WCWV collaborates with other independent Wellness Councils across the country to bring its members the most current resources and information available. The WCWV’s Worksite Wellness Tobacco Policy Project is a program funded by the WV Division of Tobacco Prevention with reporting responsibilities to the national Center for Disease Control. The project is designed to provide support for state businesses in the areas of tobacco policy and cessation resources. During its seven years of programming the project has assisted thousands of WV employers and employees. Additional funding is provided by the WV Division of Tobacco Prevention, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Logan Healthcare Foundation.
In 2008, the
WCWV helped to organize the National Network of Wellness Councils, a group of
fifteen local health coalitions from around the nation. The National Network of Wellness Councils
(NNWC) is a coalition of 501(c)3 non-profit community initiatives committed to
advancing the health of individuals in worksites and communities. The coalition
currently serves over 1 million employee lives residing in 15 US States.
